CC Sabathia Won Won't Win The AL Cy Young But He'll Come Pretty Darn Close

CC Sabathia looks like his uniform is made of two jumbo sleeping bags sewn together. Justin Verlander's uniform appears to be made by American Apparel. Is he wearing jeggings? How do you throw 100 mph in the 6th inning in a pair of hispter pants? But he does and he has 23 wins. He had his second career no hitter against the Blue Jays in May and is a lock for this year's Cy Young. Verlander might even be the AL MVP too. What a lucky son of a gun! CC Sabathia should finish second in Cy Young voting if only because he doesn't face cupcake teams as often as J-Verl does.

Being a New York pitcher isn't the easiest occupation in the world. You're under a microscope. You're constantly being scrutinized by the fans and the media. Ask AJ Burnett.  The latest news and photos show Sabathia looking dejected. The thing about pitching in the American League East: it's hard. You have to face hot hitters on the Red Sox , Rays and even the Jays. The Orioles, well uh, thankfully that city has the Ravens. Justin Verlander gets to face the Indians who could have been America's Team had they kept up their winning ways from the beggining of the season. When he's done spitting out Grady Sizemore, Verlander moves on to chew up Adam Dunn (or should it be Adam Done?) and the White Sox. Aflterwards it's on to the Twins who are without...everybody. If CC Sabathia pitched in the AL Central he too would be on course for 23 wins.

CC Sabathia used to down an entire box of Captain Crunch in one sitting. Back in February of this year, he told the NY Daily News that the key to his 25 pound weight loss was not shoving an entire box of cereal into his mouth every day. When he arrived at Bombers training camp looking leaner and meaner it was assumed he'd be the 20 game winner he was the year before. As of September 18th, the Yankees ace is 19-8 with a 3.01 ERA. When he faced the Blue Jays two days earlier he appeared to be running out of gas. Sabathia will inneviatably win his 20th game before the season ends and the Yankees will coast into the post-season to face Justin Verlader and his jeggings in the ALDS or ALCS. CC Sabathia won't win his second Cy Young this year but if he wants to reward himself for another great season with a box of the Cap'n, he should. He definately deserves it.
